Organic search engine optimization (organic SEO) can best be described as the process involved in improving traffic flow towards your webpage or website through making it more visible in search engine results using specific terms, phrases or keywords. Generally speaking the more often a site appears in the search results page or the higher graded on the search results list, it will receive more visitors from the search engine’s users. It is not uncommon to hear of organic SEO targeting many different types of searches, for example video search, image, and news searches. One of the strategies used is to look at the way search engines operate, how and what exactly people search for, the search engines most used by the target audience and the actual keywords, terms and phrases used in these search engines.

During the mid-1990s content providers as well as webmasters (the people in charge of maintaining one or more websites) started improving sites for search engines, while the first search engines began cataloging the Web. During the early developmental stages it relied heavily on keyword density, which was under the sole control of the webmaster. This meant that early search engines were open to ranking manipulation as well as abuse. To combat this, search engines began developing more complex and intricate ranking algorithms.

You can do this by simply linking the content from your website to the specific keywords you create. This ensures that when people type in keywords into the search engine, there is a greater chance that results from your website will appear if the content and the keywords you have selected are closely combined.

One of the great benefits of using organic search engine optimization is that it is free and does not require you to pay, as you would with pay per click advertising for example. Another benefit for using is that it allows you to see results long after the initial work has been completed. Take for example if you pay for your webpage to be ranked on the top page for search engine results, if you fail to make a payment, your rank will disappear from that search engine, whereas organic SEO allows for results to appear for an unlimited time period.
