The three pillars of a strong SEO campaign are effective keywords, on-page SEO, and off-page SEO. The first two pillars have been discussed in previous months and we will now focus on the last one. Off-page SEO refers to ways in which you can improve the position of your website in the search en-gine results page (SERP). This is mainly achieved by link-building i.e. building links from other blogs or web-sites that lead back to your website. Below are some of the methods by which you can do this.

Social Networking
Social networking, or ‘online reputation management’ is a crucial component in creating a successful SEO campaign. This is done by signing up to all the major social networking sites (such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ etc.) that are likely to be used by your target demographic, and to start engaging and sharing links with them. Social networking will help you to create an online community, generate brand awareness and to direct traffic to your website, thereby boosting your SEO.

One of the most powerful tools you can use to optimize your SEO campaign is to start a blog for your busi-ness or website. Your blog should contain unique and high-quality content as well as effective keywords. You can then promote your blog in blog directories, blog search engines or even simply by commenting in other related blogs which allow for links to be posted in the comment section which can be picked up by search engines (‘do-follow blogs’).

Forum Postings
Another way to build links back to your website is to start a forum or online discussion board. You can dis-cuss topics relevant to your business, offer advice and reply to threads. In addition, you can reply in al-ready-existing forums. Some of these forums may allow a link in your signature which can be picked up by search engines (‘do-follow’ forums).

Search Engine Submission
Although in the ordinary course of things, search engines will eventually pick up your website, it may be more effective to submit it to the most popular search engines e.g. Google, Yahoo, Bing etc. in order to speed things up.

Social Bookmarking
Social bookmarking can also help to improve your SEO campaign. This involves submitting your latest blog posts to the major bookmarking sites such as Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon etc. Search Engines favor these sites since the content changes so often. However, it is important to know how these websites work. You need to be able to make effective use of tags in order to broadcast your news on a wide area network. Depending on how effectively you have done this, you will find an increase in traffic to your website.

These are by no means all you can do to optimize the traffic to your website, it is merely a quick summary of the most important methods. It is important to familiarize yourself with all three pillars relating to web-site search engine optimization since nowadays an effective SEO campaign is a vital part of any business strategy. It will increase your ratings, increase your page rank and result in more exposure.
